What Do You Call Me?
It is easy for you to call me Anh;
But it's harder for me to call you Chị.
It's much easier for me to call you Em.
Can you just use the Em for I with me?
Chị vẫn muốn Ti gọi Em l Chị;
Anh vẫn mơ Anh gọi Chị l Em.
Chị vẫn muốn Ti knh Em l Chị;
Anh vẫn mơ Anh knh Chị l Em.
Chị vẫn muốn Ti thương Em l Chị;
Anh vẫn mơ Anh thương Chị l Em.
Chị vẫn muốn Ti yu Em l Chị.
I think there is something wrong here.
Anh vẫn mơ Anh yu Chị l Em.
This sure sounds awfully wrong too!
Nhưng rồi đy Anh lộn xộn Chị ơi.
Biết gọi Em thế no cho đủ lễ.
Biết xưng Ti thế no Em đừng cười.
Anh thấy đời rắc rối qu Chị ơi.
Oops, gọi Em l Chị nghe kỳ qu.
Oops, gọi Chị l Em cũng kỳ lun.
Trời, Chị Em Anh Ti đầy lộn xộn.
Gosh, Anh Ti Em Chị cũng chẳng hơn.
I cannot bear myself calling you Chị.
You still don't want for me to call you Em.
And yet deep down I know you're not my Chị.
And too deep down you know you're sure my Em.
Then either we speak English all the time,
And so we do away with Anh Chị Em Ti.
Or I am Anh, you are Em when I speak;
And you are Em, I am Anh when you do.
On the Summit of Love
That night we took a ride to Spindletop
The elevator button says Ess-Tee
To reach the summit high and perched atop,
The universe revealed for us to see.
We were huddled inside the glass lift cage
That rose up quiet in the silent night.
Locked in embrace to us the world's a stage
Where love is sweet, and romance bright.
We stepped into the dim-lit dining room
Your black evening gown dancing at your knees,
Your pure white skin glowing amidst the gloom,
And your bright eyes filled with contented ease.
The snug table was made for two of us.
The lone soft light suffused the world around
With blurry rays hazy and tenebrous
In a lovely ambience devoid of sound.
In hushed and quiet tones we traded love.
There was no need for light to give repose,
Dead drunk with each other in our alcove
That turned us round in its dark clothes.
O! how the place was so tranquil and calm,
Respectful of our deep romance and love,
Surrounding us in sweet and soothing balm
While your beauty shone through your eyes of dove.
My love, this is your night and time of fame
For none can rival your gorgeous beauty.
The world is at your feet and without shame
Tells you how much you so deserve glory.
